Euterpe Baroque Consort

With the Euterpe Baroque Consort, founded in 2007 under the impetus of Bart Rodyns, we return to the beautifully restored Le Picard organ in the Saint George's Church in Boorsem. Georg Friedrich Händel was a renowned composer in his time and inimitable as an organist and improviser. When he settled permanently in London, Handel soon began to publish several series of organ concertos, on the one hand to bridge periods between two larger works, and on the other hand to also lure audiences to oratorios and operas with his own name as a soloist. His 6 concertos op. 4 were published in 1738. Zijn Franse counterpart Michel Corrette also played a prominent role in the development of the keyboard concerto in France. His 6 concertos op. 26 were published 18 years later in 1756. Moreover, Corrette traveled to England, where he undoubtedly heard about the Handel phenomenon. High time to musically confront these gentlemen with each other and to hear the beautiful organ resound.
