Aperitif concert with Fluitkwartet Quatuor Montis

Het Quatuor Montis unites four musician friends, all specialized in early music on authentic instruments. They are driven by a passion for a sensitive and historically informed performance of classical music for flute quartet. They come from the Mons (Bergen) region or have a link with this city. Hence the name "Montis" or "from Mons". The very short classical period is characterized by an ideal of balance, simplicity, clarity, harmony, and melodic elegance. This period is located between the Baroque - which spanned a century and a half until the death of J. S. Bach in 1750 - and the Romantic period, which covers the entire 19th century. The 18th century brought profound upheavals: the birth of opera, the transformation of instruments, the expansion of concert halls, the changing status of composers, and the democratization of music practice.
