BachPlus // Pour la luth

Shakespeare praised its transporting power, Thomas Mace called the lute ‘noble and heroic’. Tijdens Bachs life, the lute was already past its peak, but yet brilliant music was still composed for it. Ook Bach played the lute. He made an arrangement of his fifth cello suite, on which he, unconcerned about his lack of knowledge of French, noted the designation ‘pour la luth’ (instead of ‘le luth’). BachPlus invests in young talent and invites two Klara Twintigers, mezzo-soprano Sterre Decru and lutenist Stan Geudens, to discover the repertoire of the Baroque lute together. And to dive completely into the intimate atmosphere of the lute, Bart Naessens plays an instrumental curiosity: the lautenklavier. TIP!
