Wandeling Eeuwenoude hedgerows

Let yourself be surprised by the landscape of 1001 ponds. Discover the varied nature reserve De Wijers and go out with experienced guides from Toerisme Zonhoven. Every month we explore a different part of the pond area and look at nature through a different lens. The walks are 4 to 6 km long and last a maximum of two hours. Participation is free, registration is mandatory via www.zonhoven.be/themawandelingen. Zonhoven was an agricultural village for centuries. In the Kolveren nature reserve, you can still discover that typical cultural landscape. Here you can still see how the residents shaped the environment with, among other things, hedgerows, irrigation, and iron ore mining.
