Stadsmuseum Oostende - Open Monument Day 2026

Discover the history of Ostend, sing along with Camerata Ostendia and visit the exhibition about Paster Pype in the City Museum. Free visit to the museum: Het Stadsmuseum Oostende takes you through the history of Ostend. Based on stories about urban development, fishing, harbor and shipping, you will discover how Ostend grew into what it is today. Sing-along with Camerata Ostendia: Het Oostendse choir Camerata Ostendia brings music and gives you a unique insight into how a choir rehearsal proceeds. Between 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM you are welcome to walk in freely. Exhibition ‘In Memoriam – 100 years Paster Pype’: The exhibition about Paster Pype (until November 9, 2026) highlights the life of the legendary Hendrik Pype, the first chaplain at sea. Accessibility: Het Stadsmuseum is partially accessible. The building does not have an elevator. Folding chairs are available upon request. Companions and assistance dogs are very welcome.
