De Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ter-Sneeuw of Vrijheidswijk is an old district in the Vijfhoek van Brussel, roughly between the Botanical Garden and Madou metro stations. The neighborhood originated in the last quarter of the 19th century by redeveloping a working-class neighborhood. Today it is one of the best-preserved homogeneous architectural ensembles in the entire Pentagon, where once i.a. Victor Hugo and Charlotte Brontë stayed.
