Through Time... Through the Streets – The Royal Park

Wed, 25 Nov 2026 · 19:00
Le Jardin de ma Soeur, Brussels
Too often the history of the city is summed up in major events located in emblematic places: the Grand-Place, the Sablon, the Parc district…. We will make the effort to go beyond that and seek traces of the past also in small-scale history and in less spectacular corners and nooks... History in the city, street by street... Strolling through it with Roel Jacobs... A relaxation place for the Dukes of Brabant, setting for Burgundian pageantry, the park adjoining the Brussels palace was completely redesigned in the 18th century, at the time of the creation of the Place Royale. Surrounded by the Belgian Trinity (the parliament, the royal palace and the seat of Société Générale) it became in the 19th century the symbolic center of the new country.
