Saint-Job, the mountain in struggle

Sat, 27 Jun 2026 · 14:00
église de Saint-Job, Brussels
€10–15
In the south of the municipality of Uccle, Saint-Job is what one might call a "village in the city": one still finds a true neighborhood spirit there, but also, along its small streets and between its vegetable gardens, airs of the countryside. Today rather bourgeois, the Saint-Job district was long very popular: as evidenced by the rows of modest houses along the Rue du Ham or Montagne de Saint-Job, the old cabarets, and the numerous traces of agricultural and artisanal activity. The history of the Saint-Job district is not only that of an old hamlet gradually integrated into the Brussels agglomeration. It is also that of its numerous green spaces, the infrastructure projects that threatened them, and the struggle (fortunately victorious) led by the inhabitants and associations to preserve them!
