Living Leie Nature Park - In good hands - Drongen

De Leiestreek as landscape heritage. How were Ghent, Sint-Martens-Latem and Deinze influenced by the Leie? Discover it during various guided walks and an overview exhibition. The meandering Leie between Deinze and Ghent provides beautiful pieces of nature, which are connected to each other by the project Natuurpark Levende Leie van Natuurpunt. Over the course of the past thousand years, the river has left its mark on a landscape of wet meadows with specific vegetation and pastures bordered by ditches, hedgerows and gnarled pollard willows. Together with the higher-lying cover sand ridges, fields, low-lying areas and dunes, the river tells not only of a typical landscape, but also of so many centuries of living and working within a mainly agricultural organization. Numerous artists found inspiration in this landscape to portray their vision in light and color. Let us explore this Leie landscape together!
