In 2026, the Willemsfonds puts human rights at the center. Because both worldwide and in Belgium, fundamental freedoms are under pressure: from freedom of the press and the right to a fair trial to protection against poverty and the rights of the elderly. With a film series, we bring this reality closer. Stories that show how human rights affect our daily lives and why it remains necessary to actively defend them. Each screening starts from a different perspective and invites reflection. On Thursday, September 3 at 8:00 PM, you are welcome in GC Felix Sohie (Hoeilaart) for "All the All the President's Men" (1976) by Alan J. Pakula. When the headquarters of the Democratische Partij is broken into in 1972, the novice journalist Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) suspects that there is more going on. He is quickly paired with the experienced Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman). Together they discover that the infamous Watergate scandal was orchestrated by the Republikeinse Partij, but the big question remains whether incumbent president Richard Nixon was personally aware. Driven by an unflagging urge for the truth, Woodward and Bernstein take on almost every political institution in Washington. Half a century after its release, All the All the President's Men remains required viewing. Because in times where freedom of the press is once again under pressure, the compelling duo Redford-Hoffman reminds you of the crucial role of independent journalism in a healthy democracy. The film will be preceded by an introduction. More info to follow!
