From football field to food forest

Get to know the special story of food forest De Doolen and its community. In 2021, a group of residents and volunteers from Doel planted about a hundred trees and 200 shrubs on the field of the former football club New Saefthinge. The field came under the management of community center De Doolen. With this initiative, residents want to breathe some life back into the Scheldt village and go all out for a sustainable future perspective. Liese and Mat, two of the driving forces behind the forest, will guide us around and talk with us about how you build a food forest with a community. Registration is required.
