Festival van Vlaanderen in Brakel: Bacewicz & Debussy by the Karski Quartet

Sat, 3 Oct 2026 · 20:00
Kerk Everbeek-Beneden, Everbeek (Brakel)
€6–15
At the beginning of October, the Festival van Vlaanderen will once again settle in the church of Everbeek-Beneden. This time with work by Bacewicz and Debussy, performed by the Karski Quartet. The Karski Quartet from Brussels was founded in 2018 and is named after the legendary Polish resistance fighter Jan Karski. It is a dynamic ensemble that combines passion and courage with a deep artistic sensitivity. The four string players like to create a strong bond with their audience. They open their program with W polu lipenka, a traditional Polish folk song full of melancholy, beautifully arranged by Ignacy Zalewski and the quartet itself. Polish folk songs also appear in the powerful and expressive String Quartet No. 4 by Grażyna Bacewicz , the first female Polish composer with international fame. Debussy’s impressionistic Quartet in G minor concludes with refined dialogues and dreamy sound colors. The string quartet consists of - Kaja Nowak, violin - Natalia Kotarba, violin - Diede Verpoest, viola - Julia Kotarba, cello
