In 'Terril', a father and a son try to get a kite to take off together with a monumental wind machine.
Voor Danie Jordens starts that from a childhood memory: as a child, he made kites out of old newspapers with his father, on top of the mine spoil tip in Genk. From that memory grew a tender performance about family, imagination, and everything that sometimes remains unspoken between fathers and sons.
About the company
Hendrik & Co is a traveling theater company from Hasselt, led by theater maker and sculptor Danie Jordens. The company makes visual, clownish, and musical object theater: formerly in a circus tent, today on the street, on location, and in cultural houses.
The work of Hendrik & Co often starts from craftsmanship, the joy of playing, and the poetry of self-built installations. With 'Terril', the company reaches back to a strong Limburg story, in which personal memory and collective history touch each other.
