Philippe Boesmans loved to play with the listener, playing with "ear-deceiving" resonances, harmonic hide-and-seek, and winks to the past through quotations (from Bach to Monteverdi, from Stravinsky to Richard Strauss). Of great subtlety, his music is teeming with almost pointillist details. Upon listening, the listener is confronted with music of beautiful clarity, fluid and deceptively light. To pay tribute to him, the TANA quartet and David Lively dive into the rich and plural repertoire that Philippe Boesmans forged. In partnership with Ars Musica
