Mira Bryssinck explores the impact of a disability on family life with the intimate ‘Iemands zus’. Based on interviews with people with a disability and their brothers or sisters, intimate conversations with family members, clippings from old scrapbooks, and speaking documentary material, Bryssinck investigates the gray areas between receiving care and providing care and how this shapes relationships.
How do you grow up with a disability next to a sibling without a disability? How does society look at this and in what way do families look back? Based on the conversations, Bryssinck writes a (fictional) story about two sisters. On stage, a cinematic and coming-of-age story unfolds, carried by the music of Simon Raman.
