Wajdi Riahi Trio

Born in Tunis, pianist Wajdi Riahi discovered the power of music as a universal language at a young age. After extensive study, he moved to Brussels, where he developed a unique style: his own mix of jazz, Mediterranean music, and the folk traditions that inspire him. He soon established himself as one of the most promising young pianists on the European jazz scene, appreciated for his talent to combine virtuosity with energy and raw emotion. In 2020, he formed the Wajdi Riahi Trio with the Fransen Basile Rahola on double bass and Pierre Hurty on drums. Together they built a strong identity and found a rare balance: constantly listening to each other, a deep friendship, and musical complicity give the trio a unique intensity. After the highly acclaimed albums ‘Mhamdeya’ and ‘Essia’, the group released a live album at the end of 2025, ‘Zabonprés Sessions’ (Flak Records), which is praised at home and abroad. The choice for a live album was no coincidence: even more than in the studio, there is a rare alchemy between the three musicians on stage. Earlier this year, Wajdi Riahi was artist in residence at Flagey during the Brussels Jazz Festival.
