Our passer is Stéphanie Manges, author and actress, but also co-founder of the Compagnie MAPS, of the Enfants Admis Writing Residencies, and of the La Tête à l’Envers company.
She proposes the reading or listening of:
Venir au monde by Anne-Marie OLIVIER (Quebec)
Le canapé club, le chien et la serrure à cinq points by Emilie LECONTE (France)
Et plus je suis inadéquate et plus je suis inadéquate by Liliane GOUGEON-MOISAN (Quebec)
About this choice of text:
“I went in search of contemporary texts that present motherhood/parenthood as valid experiences, worthy of being the subject of research, material for artistic creation, for dramatic tension. Works staging mothers and fathers beginners, who would resemble me, far from Medea on the tragedy side, or from the Jewish mother who enamels comedies.
While parenthood is considered to be of the domestic order, as a non-subject by many artists and directors, or even as totally incompatible with the act of creating, I propose that we swim against the current.
Small note that has all its importance: We obviously cannot reduce the chosen texts to this single theme.”
