Night of the Darkness: Animals in the Dark

The ‘Night of Darkness’ campaign is organized to let each of us discover the beauty of the night landscape. In this campaign, the association Preventie Lichthinder works together with dozens of municipalities and associations in Flanders. After all, there is too much and incorrect lighting, both by the government, the industry, and the population. That disturbance is harmful to humans, animals, and plants! For the ‘Night of Darkness’, municipalities and associations join forces to re-acquaint the population with the night landscape thanks to this activity, to give us some affinity with the darkness again, and to enjoy the splendor of the night sky once more. On October 10, a quiet walk is organized in this context in Vloethemveld in search of bats and other nocturnal animals. We set off with a ‘bat detector’ and thermal imaging camera to discover life at night and in the dark. A unique nature experience for young and old. Kamphuis, Vloethemveld 10a, 8210 Zedelgem.
