A house can have many lives, especially when it is in good hands. Discover the rich history of this beautiful Rococo-style town house. In Op de Groentemarkt in Lokeren stands a beautiful town house with a rich history, dating back to the last quarter of the 18th century. The architect was likely inspired by the nearby town hall from 1761 and chose an ornate facade with rocaille or shell-shaped decorative motifs. Before 1895, it was a retail property, then it came into the hands of a textile merchant, and then doctor Vanden Bavière, from whom the house still takes its name, lived there with his large family. Afterwards, the White Gele Kruis had its headquarters there, and later it became a restaurant. The house has been renovated several times and restored to its original state. Today, the current owners are ensuring the most authentic restoration possible. Practical info: Maximum 10 people per tour.
