Julia and Tobias lead a good life together with their daughter Marielle. They have a beautiful house and both have their own careers. But both parents also have their secrets. When Nadat Marielle gets a hard slap in the face at school, everything changes: she suddenly appears to be able to see and hear everything her parents do. Even behind closed doors. Slowly but surely, the little lies and tensions within her parents' marriage come to light. Julia and Tobias can no longer ignore it. Specifically for Cinema ZED Leuven The screening on August 23rd will be subtitled in English / The screening on August 23rd is subtitled in English. Commentaar Regisseur Frédéric Hambalek got the idea for this dryly comedic German tragicomedy with a supernatural touch via a baby monitor with a built-in camera: to what extent does privacy still exist in our society, or even in our family life? And what is the impact of that on our relationships? When a teenager suddenly develops telepathic gifts, the hierarchy within the family is turned upside down: masks fall off and mom and dad are no longer the role models they want to be. Is it difficult when you can no longer hide behind little lies, or is it actually liberating? Do we behave differently when we know that someone is always watching? A surprising, sometimes hilarious film full of embarrassing and dysfunctional scenes, which also makes you think.
