Villa Zomernest, a unique heritage building, opens its doors. Discover the architecture, the signature of Edgard Magerman, and the warm mission of this five-year-old drop-in center for people with and after cancer. The oldest part of Villa Zomernest dates from 1911 and belongs to the first country retreats of Sint-Martens-Latem. In 1939, the building was expanded with a higher section, a tower, and an extension with an ogival tiled roof, designed by architect Edgard Magerman. Two architectural styles form one harmonious whole. Today, Villa Zomernest is a drop-in center for people with and after cancer and their loved ones. From the renovated villa, a team of volunteers offers a warm, safe place where visitors can recover at their own pace, share experiences, and find new resilience through individual support and group sessions.
