Workshop 'Moths (for parents and children)'

Fri, 28 Aug 2026 · 20:30
't Vliegherkeshof, Aalter
€15–25
Nightly discoveries in the green Late in the evening, when people crawl into their tin cans and hurry to their brightly lit burrows, a hidden world awakens. A small army of night owls, tiger moths, and creatures with unpronounceable names emerges, in search of their own form of entertainment. Little creatures with big names, each with their own stories, jostle around the lamp. We watch the swarming mass of life in wonder, in shapes and colors that we might be seeing for the first time in our lives. What are we going to do? During this activity, we will specifically look for moths and other insects that only become active after sunset. We will use a stretched sheet and a strong lamp to attract the animals so that we can study them up close. Accompanied by a guide, you will learn how to recognize, photograph, and identify these species using a magnifying glass. A unique opportunity to discover the biodiversity of the night without disturbing nature. Tips for what to bring: Camera, butterfly net, magnifying jar, pen and paper. When: Friday, August 28, 2026, from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM. Price: 15 euros for Velt members, 25 euros for non-members (children under 6 free). Location: 't Vliegherkeshof, Oostmolenstraat 220, Aalter Registration: Via this link
