Book Festival: Meet & greet and signing session Bert Cornelis

On November 7, we welcome Bert Cornelis for a fascinating meet & greet and signing session around the book 'De Rector' in Standaard Boekhandel Putte. Everyone welcome! About 'De Rector' In the spring of 1943, the German occupier demands that all first-year students at Belgian universities must go to work in the German war industry. But that is reckoning without the courageous rector of Leuven Honoré van Waeyenbergh. At the peril of his own life, he refuses to hand over the lists of student data. In De Rector, author Bert Cornelis maps out the fascinating, true story of this unprecedented protest with razor-sharp precision. Thanks to new archival research, he sketches not only the unknown courage of Van Waeyenbergh, but also the broader resistance of Belgian universities against the Nazi occupier. The result is a compelling and incredibly important piece of history that reads like a train. Grab your chance to converse with Bert during this Meet & Greet about his extensive research, ask all your historical questions and have your book personally signed! This event is part of Feest van het Boek (www.standaardboekhandel.be/feest-van-het-boek).
