'When animals still spoke ... and what humans make of it' is a nature-educational comedy performance by Joeri Cortens about communication between humans, animals, plants, ... in vivid detail ... and what can go wrong. Joeri Cortens (1976) is a Belgian biologist, born in Herentals and raised in the forests and heaths of the Kempen. He worked for years as a field worker in the Biology department of the Universiteit Antwerpen. Since 2006, he has been an educational staff member at Natuurpunt Natuuracademie and gives nearly 200 lectures, courses, and performances annually on various nature themes (including wild bees, natural gardens, ecology, and animal behavior). In addition, he is also regularly heard and seen on radio and TV. He also wrote the book 'De natuur in' (Into Nature). Apes mimicking each other, spiders sitting on their webs, and (blue) birds chirping away merrily... There is a lot of communication going on in nature, and in all its vivid colors! But how are we humans actually doing? During this unique performance, we dive into the communication between humans, animals, and plants. We discover what can go wrong and ask ourselves the question: are we in the middle of a communication revolution, or are we actually understanding each other less and less? Expect an afternoon full of humor, nature facts, and a critical (but funny) look at ourselves.
