On Monday, June 29, 2026, at 7:30 PM, the Center for Action Laïque is organizing a conference-debate entitled "Les défis de la laïcité pour la décennie à venir."
This conference will be moderated by Thomas Gillet, President of the C.A.L., and Benoit Van Der Meerschen, Secretary General.
Faced with the return of religion and dogmatism, attacks on fundamental freedoms, the fragmentation of society and public debate, and attempts to instrumentalize secularism, the secular movement is facing major challenges.
How can we continue to carry an ideal of emancipation, freedom, equality, and solidarity in a society crossed by identity retreats, democratic tensions, and distrust of institutions?
This meeting will offer a reflection on the responsibilities, struggles, and perspectives of the secular movement today, as well as on how to reaffirm secularism as an essential principle for living and acting together in a democratic society.
