The Strong Baker and The Mapoesjka's

Het Spelleke van Semini continues on the path of the puppet heritage. In the 26-27 season we are playing a performance with two shorter pieces that we borrow from the repertoire of another puppet company. De Sterken Bakker Willem van Oranje has asked the Duke of Alençon to become governor of the Netherlands in place of the hated Spaanse Filips II. The duke thinks he has too little power for his liking and wants to become king. He plots a raid on Antwerp. Our alert Schele and Neus and a warm baker from the Lange Nieuwstraat must keep an eye on things and ensure that Alençon gets a thrashing and the Franse Furie is thwarted. De Mapoesjka's Trees' café is being sold publicly. Neus and Schele make attempts to prevent losing their local pub. In vain, the sinister Sergej makes the highest bid and subsequently turns it into Bar Zodros. He puts girls to work there whom he lured to Antwerp with false promises. Our ragamuffins, however, get in his way and eventually the police intervene.
