Three years ago, Oleksandr Semenov fled with his family from Ukraine to Belgium, after his home was destroyed during the war. With camera in hand, he explores our country. His photo exhibition explores the emotional complexity of human existence, with themes such as connectedness, gratitude, and time. His work explores universal experiences that resonate not only with foreigners or people with a migrant background, but with everyone. The photos combine joy with subtle sadness, and invite reflection. Oleksandr shows how time feels different for each of us, how gratitude and joy can also exist in difficult periods, and how difference and ‘being-other’ are part of the experience of displacement.
