Zwart Huis is pleased to present 'El Pulse del Agua', the first solo exhibition by Belgian artist Nils Verkaeren. The exhibition brings together works from a long-term project (2018–2026) developed across diverse South American landscapes. Rather than originating in the studio, Verkaeren’s practice emerges through direct engagement with the environment, where painting becomes a physical and unpredictable process. Working in locations ranging from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Amazon to rivers such as the Río Magdalena and Río Cauca, he gradually shifts from observation to collaboration with natural forces. Water, climate, and time actively shape the works, leaving traces on canvases exposed to the elements. 'El Pulse del Agua 'reflects eight years of working in and with the landscape.
