De Gentse band Rosie Stuart writes raw songs full of contrasts: 100 percent black and white, without room for gray. Central to the band is frontwoman and songwriter Rosie, whose restless creativity propels the project. Sometimes her voice calls up the fearless je m’en foutisme of her mother – a trait she carried with her as a member of the Kortrijk cult band Midnight Men. Others hear nuances of Sinéad O’Connor, PJ Harvey of Patti Smith Samen with her band, Rosie Stuart not only confronts the audience. They take on the walls around them, the world in general, and even themselves. The band was also selected as one of the three winners of De Nieuwe Lichting ’26, the influential Belgian music competition organized by Studio Brussel.
