Mèraque

Mèraque originated from a passion for Eastern mysticism and Balkan folk, supplemented with influences from Latin America and Southwest Asia. The result is a quirky sound world in which different cultures and musical languages come together in a natural way. During their performances, energetic percussion, refined electronic sounds, Turkish guitar, Arabic oud, and the expressive, sometimes melancholic tone of the clarinet merge. Improvisation forms an essential part and gives every concert a feeling of movement and spontaneity. Mèraque performed at various festivals and locations, including Wildeburg and Amsterdam Open Air in the Netherlands, Château Perché in France, and the free haven Ruigoord.
