Belgian abstract art at the WITHUIS

Masterpiece of the Brussels architect Joseph Diongre, this house built in 1928 for the man of letters and poet Jef Mennekens is a total work of art. With its facade with cubist accents that cuts into protruding volumes, the Withuis offers a bold transition between modernism and the Art Déco style. The house, which has kept its period furniture and its soul intact for nearly a century, has just been admirably restored. After a complete heritage restoration, the Withuis will be exceptionally open to the public, to present an exhibition of the pioneers of Belgian geometric abstraction (1920-1928). Rare works from private and public collections will be exhibited there in the historical context of their era. You will thus have the opportunity to discover unique works unknown to the public in a place open to visitors for the first time after meticulous work of chromatic research and the return of the original furniture! La Withuis will be open exceptionally for this exhibition from September 19 to November 22, 2026. Visits can only be done in the context of a guided tour. Thanks to the support of the municipality of Jette, we will offer visits at a preferential rate to Jettois on certain Saturdays at 10 AM and certain Sundays at 3:15 PM (reservation essential because places are limited).
