On Friday, September 11, Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, the biennial Hopduvel festivities will take place in Asse again. With these festivities, the inhabitants of Asse celebrate a successful hop harvest and the victory over the Hopduvel. De Hopduvel has been the symbol for more than a hundred years of the storm winds that caused a lot of damage in August and September to the then numerous hop fields in the region.
In 1956, exactly 70 years ago, the first Hopduvel parade marched through the streets of Asse. In addition to the extensive music program at Boekfos and the always very appreciated Hopduvel parade on Sunday, on the occasion of this 70th anniversary, an exhibition is also being built around the various aspects of the festivities. Het Hopduvelcomité collected strong stories and anecdotes from the past years for this and brings them back to life. The exhibition runs from August 28 (vernissage) up to and including September 20, 2026 in the CC Asse.
With a third edition of the Loeëpduuvel for walkers and runners on Saturday, Hopduvel also continues to play the sporty card.
In addition, Hopduvel continues to focus on sustainability, with extensive waste sorting, 100% reusable materials, and sustainable catering.
