Juste une illusion is set in 1985 and follows Vincent, almost 13 years old, who grows up in a suburb of Paris within a middle-class family full of tensions. With a distant older brother and parents who constantly clash, he seeks stability in a world that is becoming increasingly complex. Between being a child and becoming an adult, Vincent tries to find his identity, together with friendship, religion, desire, and the confusing power of his first love. Everything feels intense and decisive. Juste une illusion is a warm, funny, and relatable coming-of-age film about the vulnerable intermediate phase of growing up, in which dreams are still big and the hope of changing the world does not yet seem like an illusion, but something that is really within reach.
