'Zoutleeuw, a fortified city? How should we imagine that?' Come and discover it during the lecture by Daniël Pletinckx (Visual Dimension). He created digital 3D reconstruction images of the citadel and the fortifications around Zoutleeuw, anno 1703.  During the lecture, Daniël takes us on a virtual journey: from Grote Markt to the citadel, from the Diester Gate to the Truider Gate, ... We operate portcullises of gates, we descend into the powder cellars of the 'Heksenkot', we walk along the covered way, we look over the ramparts, we survey everything from the air, and we even virtually fire a cannon or mortar.  Daniël also explains 'the making of'. With his analytical gaze, he lets us taste the historical, cartographic, and archaeological sources about the fortified past of Zoutleeuw, which he expertly spices up with his knowledge of fortification architecture and practical engineering perspective. Location: Culture Hall in De Passant ( Aen den Hoorn 12, 3440 Zoutleeuw) The virtual reconstruction was realized within the public project 'Vestingstad Zoutleeuw archaeologically revealed' . With support from the Flemish government.
