BUFFALO TOM

Buffalo Tom was founded in 1986 at UMASS in Amherst (MA). The trio — Bill Janovitz (guitar/vocals), Chris Colbourn (bass/vocals), and Tom Maginnis (drums) — emerged from the same fertile Massachusetts scene that also produced Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads, Pixies, and Belly. They quickly built a reputation for their powerful guitar sound, melodic hooks, and emotional songs. After their debut on SST Records, the band broke through internationally via Beggars Banquet, with albums like Let Me Come Over , Big Red Letter Day , and Sleepy Eyed — iconic records from the alternative rock landscape of the 90s. Almost four decades later, Buffalo Tom continues to evolve. With ten albums under their belt, including Jump Rope (2024), the band remains true to its poetic lyrics and recognizable, immersive sound. A staple within indie rock, and still just as relevant.
