Renewed Ghent Folk Theatre - Bambi (Try-out)

At an improvised little tent in the Gentse Citadelpark, two people meet who are opposites in every way. He: a pessimistic retired accountant with severe hypochondriacal tendencies and a lot of misery with his daughter. She: a thoroughly optimistic ex-Blue Bell Girl who has traded the glitter and glamour of the Lido van Parijs for a free existence as a homeless person. His name is Marcel. She is Bambi. Vanessa Van Durme returns, after the international success of Gardenia*, to the Ghent stage for one very last time. Together with Bob De Moor, these two greats of contemporary folk theater sign for the most heartwarming comedy of the year. Under the inspiring leadership of none other than Frank Van Laecke. *14 years ago, the performance “Gardenia” by Alain Platel and Frank Van Laecke asked for attention and respect for people who step outside social codes, i.e., for a group of transvestites. The performance was such a great international success that the actors made their point convincingly.
