Plazapeter Kris De Smet invites you for an atmospheric classical concert, put together with care, taste, and a deep love for classical music. Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) was one of the most influential and productive German composers of the late Baroque, who enjoyed a considerably greater reputation during his lifetime than contemporaries like Johann Sebastian Bach. One of his absolute masterpieces, which underscores his versatility and sense of elegance, is the Musique de Table of Tafelmusik. Table music was a popular genre in the 18th century: music intended to be performed during banquets, dinners, or formal gatherings of the aristocracy and wealthy bourgeoisie. The goal was not so much to reach an attentively listening audience, but rather to create an atmospheric, elegant frame for a meal. The musicians of il Gardellino bring a program with gems from the Baroque with, among others, work by Telemann, Vivaldi, Janitsch, and yes ... Piazzolla. Ruth Van Killegem: recorder Marcel Ponseele: oboe Ortwin Lowyck: violin Kaat De Cock: viola Bernard Woltèche: cello Guy Penson: harpsichord
