A week before the planting of the Meyboom, all groups associated with the brotherhood of the companions of St-Laurent, along with friendly brotherhoods, gather in the Madeleine district to begin the procession of the academic day. They then proceed in a procession with the giants to the Brussels City Hall, where a small ceremony is organized by invitation. On this occasion, the brotherhood honors deserving individuals who receive an honorary medal. After this, this joyful procession goes to the Manneken-Pis statuette, which is dressed in a costume of the brotherhood in honor of the event. After that, the groups head towards Place Rouppe and the procession ends with a drink of friendship.
