TRAUM, the second performance of Roeshoofd, the company around Simon De Vos and Lukas Bulteel, draws its inspiration from Art Spiegelmans cult classic Maus. For this new creation, Simon De Vos wrote a brand-new theater text. Central is Siem, a thirty-something at a crossroads. His career as a director does not want to progress, his relationship with Lucia wavers, and the recognition of his father Garnik stays away. For his new theater performance, Siem starts recording conversations with his father, in search of answers about a complex and painful war past. What follows is a reconstruction in which he tries to find out who he is today, and above all, who he wants to be. By situating the story in an indefinite time and place and working with animal masks, TRAUM grows into an absurd allegory about a great war between Foxes and Rabbits. A layered frame story, about the traces that a beastly past leaves on the generations that follow. Theater FroeFroe creates the animal heads. Geert Van Rampelberg, Lukas Bulteel, Evelien Bosmans, and Lotte Valckenaers play. Tim Vanhamel (Millionaire) puts a nostalgic musical blanket over it.
