As a singer and singer-songwriter, Fien Desmet loves to get lost. In corona times, she opened a whole bunch of musical drawers, in search of a translation of everything she feels and perceives in herself and the world. Her goal: to write beautiful songs. Inspired by musical heroes like Nina Simone, Melanie De Biasio, Lianne La Havas, Spinvis, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, and Tom Waits, Festi was born. A few friends accompany her on her musical journey and help color in her musical stories. Thanks to the warm undertone of bassist Gerben Brys, the painting drum playing of Anke Verslype, the rich sounds of pianist Wout Gooris, and the twin voice of Sophie Verdickt, she creates drawn-out songs, straight from the heart. The unmistakable jazz influences and the recurring harmony singing form a warm palette of musical stories. Sometimes very direct, then again a poetic reflection of a lot of unspoken feelings.
