Disquiet - The Necks

Thirty-five years and twenty albums are already to the credit of The Necks. Their albums often consist of only one track, and if they do deviate from that, it concerns improvisations of (at least) twenty minutes. And yet they continue to surprise! With the ability to explore motifs endlessly and with seemingly boundless creativity, the trio grew into an iconic band within jazz, improvised music, and minimalism. Chris Abrahams, Lloyd Swanton and Tony Beck are each time again the guides of an auditory odyssey that has no equal. They (re)know like no other the magic of a sustained tension arc and, with their boundless creativity, have been able to count musicians like Brian Eno and Nick Cave among their fans for years. Long, deceptively simple songs were always their trademark, but on Disquiet, the Australian trio seems to put time completely on the sidelines. The bewitching atmosphere they evoke makes it weightless and timeless.
