Werkpaard Steven Soderbergh (Sex, Lies and Videotape, Ocean's Eleven) is sometimes accused of prioritizing quantity over quality, but with The Christophers he delivers an absolute gem. A small, intimate, and coolly funny story that is carried by one of the best acting performances of Ian McKellen's (Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings) career, and that says something. The enigmatic-looking Michaela Coel also leaves a strong impression. A film about artistry, aging, and what it exactly means to have led a valuable life.
