A woman and a man are in the middle of life. Too old to still be young. Too young to accept that nothing is possible anymore and nothing is necessary anymore. They are standing 'surplace', like in cycling: balancing with your feet on the pedals, you are in full motion, but you are no longer moving forward. In ‘Surplace’, Mieke Laureys and Danny Ronaldo take stock together. Two players who have known and appreciated each other for years share their love for the small stories behind the human being. Their encounter on stage is a duet full of tenderness, humor, and recognition. Live music from accordion and flute weaves through their play. ‘Surplace’ is not a performance about being old, but about the road to it. About balancing between yesterday and tomorrow, between melancholy and desire, between dreams and reality. About the illusion that you can plan life and mold it to your will. An ode to being on the road, to the art of letting go, to the game of life itself. From and with: Danny Ronaldo (Circus Ronaldo), Mieke Laureys (Johnny MUS), Sven Van De Voorde (accordion), Tille Van Gastel (flute), Frank Van Laecke (final direction), Geert Custers (technique and lighting design) and Koen Onghena (production and costume). A co-production of Johnny MUS and Het Laatste Bedrijf. With the support of the Vlaamse Gemeenschap and c o r s o. With support from the Tax Shelter of the Belgische Federale Overheid and Gallop Tax Shelter.
