Walking along the Dode Beek Het Rotbos is located northwest of the center of Kampenhout, along the Dode Beek. It is an old and richly varied forest that is composed of deciduous wood. Mainly consisting of pedunculate oak and beech, but often accompanied by ash, black alder, white poplar, sweet chestnut, and downy birch. It is part of the Hellebos-Rotbos nature reserve, which is 138 ha in size. As well as a larger whole: ‘ De Groene Vallei’ , a green oasis of 500 ha of protected nature reserve between Brussels, Mechelen, and Leuven. So, there is no shortage of fauna and flora. All to be discovered during this walk. And.... afterwards, there is a party in the sports hall of Berg to celebrate 50 years of nature management in the Torfbroek (another top nature reserve in Kampenhout-Berg). You can eat, drink, take another walk at your own pace through the Torfbroek, and admire the orchids that will be in full glory then. And lots of fun guaranteed for the children. Participants in the Rotbos walk receive a discount on a drink during the 50 years of Torfbroek party More info : natuurpunt.be/kampenhout
