Dizzee Rascal

Dizzee Rascal (Dylan Mills MBE) is a founding figure of British grime, originally from Bow, in East London. Emerging from the pirate radio scene of the early 2000s, he helped define the contours of the genre with nervous writing and minimalist productions, where urban urgency becomes a musical language. His first album Boy in da Corner (2003), considered a foundational grime record, earned him the Mercury Prize and established a new voice in British rap. Tracks like I Luv U, Fix Up, Look Sharp or Jus’ a Rascal imposed a raw, hyper-local and immediately identifiable aesthetic, which left a lasting mark on the UK scene. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Dizzee Rascal expanded his spectrum with albums like Showtime, Maths + English and Tongue n’ Cheek, giving birth to a series of tracks that became staples of the British charts, from Bonkers to Dance Wiv Me. This period confirmed his status as an artist capable of creating a dialogue between the underground and mainstream pop.
