KOSMOKRATORS presents Greek songs from the rebetiko tradition in French, Dutch, and Greek. The lyrics are more or less literal translations of the originals, which convey the authentic hard and marginal character well. The theme par excellence is the world of the ‘mangas’, the tenacious and proud hashish-smoking musicians of Athens and Piraeus. Always well-smoked lyrics, sometimes adapted to modern times, sometimes boorish, sometimes tender, but humor is a must.
