Guided Tour St Pieters Church Langdorp

On Sunday afternoon, August 30, 2026, you can visit the Sint-Pieterskerk in Langdorp at 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM for a beautiful guided tour of the church, the church tower, the former mortuary, and the rectory garden under the expert guidance of Jonas Danckers. The protected Sint-Pieterskerk, with a core from the 13th century and a tower from the 15th century, was recently beautifully restored and is built of iron sandstone and brick. Because of the use of iron sandstone, this church is a typical example of Demer Gothic. Not only the Sint-Pieterskerk, but also the walled cemetery with a strikingly large number of cast-iron grave crosses are determining factors that make Langdorp an attractive village center on the banks of the Demer. Next to the church, located in an authentic setting with an age-old garden, monumental English oaks, mighty hornbeams, and a unique summer linden, is the 18th-century rectory. The De Sint-Pieters site with its church, rectory garden, and surrounding grounds will – in collaboration with Wesp vzw, Regionaal Landschap Noord-Hageland, LEADER-Hageland, and partners Stad Aarschot and Landschapspark De Merode – be further developed into a full-fledged quiet spot and the social engine for the villagers and tourists who visit Langdorp. This tour is organized in the context of ‘Feest in ’t Dorp!’, the festive celebration of 15 years of ’t Hof in Langdorp. ’t Hof is a village shop with a bakery and inn.
