Post Mortem
de Jasmina Douieb / Cie Entre Chiens and Loups
Théâtre
+ 16 years
Learning to live with the death of the other. Continuing to talk to them. Making a place for them. After the death of her mother, Jasmina Douieb found herself destitute: no place to find her again, no obvious signs, no dreams, no dialogue possible. Only scattered ashes, a field, the sky, and this immense question: where do the dead go when we no longer know how to talk to them?
In this sensitive and funny one-woman show about loss, born from interviews, she goes to meet those who maintain a bond with their departed, who interpret signs, invent rituals, continue interrupted conversations. Through their stories, Jasmina seeks the path of her own mourning.
Surrounded by objects, furniture, and memories piled up like so many doors open to stories, she summons the absent, gives them back their voice, presence, movement. The show then becomes an intimate and collective investigation, a space where death ceases to be only a disappearance to become a relationship to be reinvented.
With modesty, humor, and great delicacy, Jasmina Douieb questions what we do with our dead, the way we keep them with us, the way we still talk to them, sometimes without knowing it. And what if writing, telling, playing the dead was already a way of extending them?
The show continues beyond the stage with a post-mortem booth, installed in the foyer of the Staquet, where the public is invited to leave words, thoughts, tributes, or conversations left hanging, on seeded paper. These fragments will be collected and then planted during a burial ceremony, on Saturday, March 27, 2027, as if to offer the words a place where they can continue to live.
