Inspired by the adventure novel by Annet Schaap, ‘Lampje’ brings together puppet violence, acting talent, live music, and video. When a storm turns Lampje's lighthouse upside down, her life changes forever. She is taken away from her father and ends up in the mysterious Zwarte Huis, a large castle where everyone says a monster lives. Maar Lampje does not believe in monsters. With her courage, curiosity, and warm heart, she goes in search of the truth. In this visually rich performance, Theater FroeFroe and Johnny MUS bring the award-winning youth book by Annet Schaap to life. The result is an adventurous and poetic fairy tale about fathers and daughters, friendship, and the courage to be who you are. ‘Lampje’ is an immersive theater experience for everyone from 9 years old who loves fantasy, exciting stories, and wonderful worlds. Awarded the ‘Boze Wolf Festival’ prize for best puppet theater performance of 2025. From the jury report: "In Lampje we are overwhelmed by hellish winds, wobbly furniture, flashing lights, thunderclaps, flapping curtains, blowing away pans. The production offers a grand and grotesque range of ingenious play between manipulated puppets and video recordings with typical FroeFroe elements such as the shrunken main character, the dollhouse installation, and that in combination with the live music, the play of the FroeFroe and Johnny MUS people. There are the moving images without sentimentality, and the hilarious moments in which the characters, played by actors or puppets or both, let themselves go wonderfully.
