STOM! Festival of Silent Film with live music in Bruges

From September 17 to 20, 2026, a nostalgic wind will blow through Cinema Lumière Brugge during the fourth edition of the Festival of the Stille Film. Enjoy timeless classics, live music, and surprising Bruges accents – from melancholic piano accompaniment to world music. For film purists, musicians, and curious explorers! Thursday 8:00 PM: Song - Die Liebe eines armen Menschenkindes (1928). As a pioneer in Europe, Anna May Wong broke through stereotypical roles and gave Asian women a voice in cinema with her nuanced acting and the "sensation of her face" (Wim Wenders). The film is accompanied by a brand-new music score commissioned by STOM! composed by Ryako. Friday 8:00 PM: Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life (1925). Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack (later known for King Kong) document the spectacular spring migration of the Bakhtiari tribe in Iran, during which 50,000 people and half a million animals cross the wild Karun River and the 4,200-meter-high Zard-Kuh.
